The Sun Harbor Chorus Celebrates the Arrival of New Risers with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 

The Sun Harbor Chorus celebrated the arrival of its new Wenger Signature 4-step risers on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.   Chapter President Brad Roberts and Director Kathleen Hansen cut the ribbon with the help from the other members of the chorus.  The new risers were purchased and assembled through the generous support of chorus members and donations from fans.

The Sun Harbor Chorus Wins Most Improved Chorus Award
​at the 2019 Far Western District Chorus Contest

The Sun Harbor Chorus competed with 15 other choruses at the 2019 Far Western District Chorus Contest in Modesto, CA  on October 12, 2019 and won the Most Improved Chorus Award with an average overall score of 67.4%.  Sun Harbor improved its scores by an impressive margin (by more than 4%) from the previous 2018 District Contest!  Congratulations Sun Harbor Chorus!

The Sun Harbor Chorus Adopts its First Strategic Plan ​

Through the collective efforts of the Board, Director and Members at Large, the Sun Harbor Chorus developed a Strategic Plan for 2019 – 2024, which provides them with a clear set of goals and objectives for the next 5 years in a variety of areas including:
  • Culture
  • Membership and Chapter Programs
  • Performances
  • Community Service
  • Marketing

The Sun Harbor Chorus is Now an Official Sponsor of the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics ​

​The International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics (IALP) is an organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with communication, speech, language, voice, hearing and swallowing disorders.  Please visit their website at https://ialpasoc.info/ for more information about the IALP. 
The IALP has a local Chapter in San Diego, and they have asked the Sun Harbor Chorus to help support their efforts in facilitating better understanding, knowledge and care for those who suffer from communication and swallowing disorders by doing the following:
  1. Highlighting the efforts of the IALP through their social media as a way to raise awareness about the important work that the IALP is doing for people in need throughout the world.
  2. By performing at some of IALP’s fundraising events in San Diego throughout each year in quartets, small ensembles, and/or the whole chorus.

"Mixed Nuts" Quartet wins Gold at Sun Harbor Chorus 2019 Chapter Quartet Contest

The annual Sun Harbor Chorus 2019 Chapter Quartet contest was held at the Casa Del Prado in Balboa Park on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.  Six Chapter quartets participated in the contest and much fun was had by all!  Most of the quartets included a variety of comedy routines in their performances, and the panel of judges were heavily influenced by the quality and quantity of bribes that each quartet offered to them.

Barbershopper of the Month for January 2020 ​

Chapter member Louis Regas received the Sun Harbor Chorus Barbershopper of the Month award for January 2020 from Chapter President Brad Roberts for his exemplary contributions toward fulfilling the goals of the Sun Harbor Chorus, the Far Western District and the Barbershop Harmony Society.
